10/17/2009 The Clinton Arrows Swim Team competed against 21 additional team in the MS High School Activities Association's North State Swimming Championship Competition this past Saturday. The boys' team finished sixth overall while the girls' team finished thirteenth out of 22 teams competing.

Junior Ben Vaughan again led the team by finishing 1st in both the 200 Yard Individual Medley and the 500 Yard Freestyle with times of 2:03.59 and 4:55.33, respectively. Other boys scoring points for the team were: Senior Trey Wells, finishing 13th in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:28.00 and 16th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.69; and Junior Ben Barnett who finished 6th in the 100 Yard Butterfly and 8th in the 500 Yard Freestyle with times of 1:00.44 and 5:26.02, respectively.

The boys' 200 Yard Medley Relay team, made up of Sophomore Timmy Lewis, Senior Trey Wells, Junior Connor McClendon and Sophomore Matthew Tucker, finished in 11th place with a time of 2:03.74.

In the 200 yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Ben Vaughan, Matthew Tucker, Timmy Lewis and Ben Barnett finished 5th overall with a time of 1:42.03.

The 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team finished seventh with a time of 3:52.96. Boys competing in this event were Ben Barnett, Connor McClendon, Trey Wells and Ben Vaughan.

The Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay Team, comprised of Junior Angie Rao, Sophomore Tanner Prevost, Junior Claire Harris and Junior Katie McCracken finished 16th overall with a time of 2:26.23, scoring 10 points for the team. They also made a state qualifying time in this event.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the girls finished 16 with a time of 2:09.60, qualifying them for the state meet. Girls swimming in this event were Katie McCracken, Tanner Prevost, Sophomore Taylor Rae Johns and Claire Harris.

In the Girls' 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, swimmers Katie McCracken, Taylor Rae Johns, Tanner Prevost, and Claire Harris finished 13th with a time of 4:56.19.
10/3/2009 The Clinton Arrow Swim Team finished its regular season last Saturday with the boys’ team finishing fourth and the lean girls’ team of only nine swimmers finishing eighth in the Madison Central Jaguar Invitational. Junior Ben Vaughan led the way, winning the 200 Yard Freestyle and the 500 Yard Freestyle with times of 1:54.57 and 5:07.34, respectively. In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Senior Trey Wells and Junior Connor McClendon finished in fifth and eight place with times of 1:07.97 and 1:15.56, respectively. In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Senior Trey Wells also completed the event in seventh place with a time of 1:17.73 while Connor McClendon finished fourth in the Boys 200 Yard Individual Medley.
The Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay Team made up of Ben Vaughan, Matthew Tucker, Trey Wells and Connor McClendon finished in 4th place with a time of 1:59.80. The 400 Yard Freestyle Team finished in third place with a time of 3:49.87 and consisted of Ben Vaughan, Ben Barnett, Connor McClendon and Timmy Lewis.
Claire Harris finished in 5th place in the Girls 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:51.72. While she was the only girl to score individual points for the team, the girls’ 200 Yard Medley Relay Team consisting of Claire, Katie McCracken, Tanner Prevost and Taylor Rae Johns finished seventh with a time of 2:31.65, just missing a state qualifying time. This same team finished qualified in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a state qualifying time of 4:58.23.
Other swimmers making state qualifying times on Saturday were Ignacio Gomez and Kennon Craft in the 50 Yard Freestyle, Katie McCracken in the 100 Yard Freestyle, and Timmy Lewis in the 100 Freestyle.
The Arrows now prepare for the North State Meet which they are hosting on October 17th at the Lakeland Courthouse Pool in Flowood.
9/12/2009 Clinton swam in the St. Aloysius Invitational in Vicksburg on Saturday. The men finished in 8th place and the girls finished twelfth.

Ben Vaughan finished first in the boys' 200 Individual Medley and the 500 Freestyle. Connor McClendon finished eighth in the boys' 100 Fly.

The Boys' 200 Free Relay Team consisting of Ben Vaughan, Barrett Breland, Garrett DeYoung and Connor McClendon finished in 9th place. The Boys' 400 Free Relay team made up of James Johnson, Trey Wells, Ben Vaughan, and Andrew DeYoung finished sixth.

The girls 400 Relay Team consisting of Claire Harris, Katie McCracken, Tanner Prevost and Taylor Johns finished eighth.
